The homeowners love antiques and the quaint style of a country kitchen, but their 35-year old cabinets did not reflect the cheerful occupants of this rural home. They also own a cabin in Wyoming, outfitted with a Hoosier cabinet built by their grandfather. They wanted to replicate the feel of the cabin, complete with antiques, in their existing home. read more Arts and CraftsKeeping with the simplistic Arts and Crafts style of the lovely farm home, this Keener remodel uses symmetry as its starting point. The back wall is centered with a large cherry mantle hood, simple in design, with long arched legs and a basic shape that is echoed in details throughout the room. The arched valance above the smooth top cook top, the corbels below the mantle shelf, the gently turned legs flanking the base cabinet, the cove molding, the arc of the faucets, and the bead detail above the open bookcase are all soft, subtle, but painstakingly planned details that speak quietly to new the space. read more Everything Old is New AgainBuilt in the early 1920’s, this lovely home in one of Baltimore’s grandest old neighborhoods originally contained two kitchens, a butler’s pantry, and a formal dining room – plenty of space to be sure, but decidedly dated design.
